We had a great question yesterday from an athlete and thought some of you might be asking the same thing. This individual is a great athlete, but has chosen not to incorporate Power or Cadence into his training. Instead, he uses a standard GPS with a Heart Rate Monitor and wondered how the Aerobar Edge would benefit him if he wasn't accessing Power or Cadence data.
To bring it to life, I took my older bike out for a ride today with the Aerobar Edge on board. No power or cadence on the bike. I was only wearing a GPS and wearing a HR Monitor. Here's what I learned on this particular course:
This is just a small slice of the available data, but you get the idea. Certainly having access to a Power and/or Cadence meter will give you additional data that will help enhance your performance. However, even if you only have a standard GPS (with or without the HR monitor), the Aerobar Edge provides the details you (and your coach) can use to optimize your performance. With just a standard GPS, you will be able to identify all of your Aero Tendencies, including but not limited to:
How cool is that?!?
