The Aerobar Edge made it's first official race debut yesterday at Ironman Arizona on the bike of Brad Cooper, 11 time Ironman finisher and 4 time Kona competitor. Data showed he was in aero almost 90% of the 5:01 bike time to put him in 4th place after exiting the water in 12th. He moved up to 2nd on the run before suffering a breakdown around mile 12 that resulted in a slow hour walk from miles 12-16 as hundreds of people passed him. Fortunately, he was then able to rally at mile 16 and ran the last 10.2 miles in under 70 minutes, including a 40 minute final 10K to move back up to 5th.
It was a disappointing outcome, but we're glad he hung in there. And we're even more excited to see the Aerobar Edge getting a chance to be tested in the race day setting!
